The Pound...

No pictures for a bit I think. They don't have any computers at the base, and no internet at all. So, I'll have to load photos or anything like that onto a laptop of on of my roommates, and then bring it here and spend hours loading stuff via dial-up. Not excited about that. Anyways...
London was great. I saw Les Miserables, ate some fish and chips of course, watched an amateur football match, and watched a bunch of professional ones on the tele. The flat I was staying in was very cool. It was in the bad part of London, and I wouldn't have it any other way, but yeah, there was like five levels, and only one room per level of the flat. Like, you walked in, climbed a flight of stairs, and there's the kitchen, another flight of stairs and there's the living room, another flight, and there's the bathroom, etc. Travelling is pretty exciting I guess. The underground was cool too, save that it's very busy most of the time, and everyone on them looks suspicious to me. The sad thing about London, not England in general, but London, is that a bottle of Coke costs about 1.50, only in pounds and not Canadian dollars. So, I paid about twice as much for everything, and yeah. Money doesn't look like a big freedom of mine here in Cyprus either. I saw two Art show's in London of course with my friend Kat, who is going to Goldsmiths art university, and there was a tonne of good art, and a tonne of bad art. Some of it was pretty much pornography. It was ridiculous. Anyways, other than that, I saw the typical sights like Big Ben and the palace, as well as some monuments and things, all of which I have pictures of and will be trying to send them once I am more settled in here. On to Cyprus!
So, for all of you who asked me and I wasn't sure, it is incredibly hot down here. Always windy though, so that's good. I'd say it was 30 today in the afternoon. I will never wear the pants I brought I'm afraid, unless the outreach phase is somewhere colder. The view from my very sweet flat that I stay in includes a lot of beach. As in, I can walk about thirty seconds to the water and have a swim. I have pictures yes, but again, not right now. My roommates are as follows. An Australian who's parents are both Arab I think, but he lived in Australia all his life, so his accent is humorous, and a local Cypriot (sip-ree-utt) from Nicosia (Nick-o-see-uh). The girls are from Kansas, Hawaii, and Cyprus (Larnaca). The leader is English, but he has been here for like thirteen years, and his co-leader or they share the position or something, is from Norway, and is the person I was in contact with before via email, so we're practically best friends already. Then there is another English lady who is one of the three part time staff, and the other two are from Kansas and LA (the Kansas' are sisters).
So, it's been intense so far, as yesterday we had two hours of worship, with only like four or five songs total (they went on for a while), and it was not something I'm used to or like too much. But since I have the guitar with me, I can sing whatever songs I want on my own! It's great! I really like the lectures so far, although there haven't really been any, it's mostly just introducing the course, but this weekend we are going on a trip to the Turkish half of the Island, and when we get back, class starts! I'm really liking it so far, soon I'm sure I will have some problem to overcome, but yeah, I'll deal with those as they come. Plus, unbeknownst to me, the pound here (money) is MORE than it was in England, and everything STILL costs the same as if it were Canadian!
So, you can email me, but the thing is, I might not get back to you, so if you do, don't expect me to answer all your questions or something, but I will try to tell everything that's happening in this blog. I miss you all lots, unless you are reading this and I don't know you. Goodbye for now.

I hope you're having a grand time on your adventure! I told you the weather would be hot.
It's cold here. I'm jealous. But it's kind of nice, because cold weather to me means that Christmas is coming! You can make jokes about me being childish, but I don't care. I always spend the entire fall looking forward to Christmas.
Lots of love,
K
